2 French brothers are tickling our taste buds
Yes! That’s correct, La Glacerie meaning The ice-cream parlour recently opened its doors in Nicosia by two brothers Edouard & Etienne.
Edouard is a Pastry chef for 15 years, learnt his pastry skills at « Ecole Ferrandi » in Paris, which is «the Harvard of Gastronomi » as proclaimed by the New York Times.
His brother Etienne is his wingman, his extensive experience at Paris’s best pastry shops Ladurée, Pierre Hermé & Philipe Conticcini, gave him the knowledge to set up this business venture where else but here in Cyprus!!!
When asked why Cyprus? “Well, why not ? Nice and pleasant Island, good weather and friendly people and not too far from home” (Toulouse, France) is the answer you’ll get.
Their philosophy is quite simple as they follow the below principles
– Desire to make good, healthy and beautiful products, using as much as possible fine and locals ingredients, made with passion and love.
– Respect of the customer : no food colouring, no preservatives, honest prices
– Importance that everybody deserves good dessert that being vegan/gluten free/sugar free/dairy free
The uniqueness of their Ice cream is that is has a strong taste, using fine ingredients, unusual flavours (coffee & cardamom, white chocolate & ginger)
The also have various Sorbet choices using more of 60% of fruits giving you the taste like you are eating a actual fruits
My personal recommendation is the Sugar Free Orange & Dates Ice-cream and the Black Sesame Ice-cream.
They also have various pastries / desserts. There’s a mix of classic and personal creations. These are made and kept frozen to adapt to the Cyprus weather, so you have to be patient and let it melt at room temperature for about 20 minutes prior to eating.
Ice creams and sorbets are mostly made for take away & delivery in half litre tubs. Good to have in the freezer at home and consume when you want, but once you take that spoon, its hard to let it down.
They also do a box of Macaroons, and these had to be one of the best Ive had in Cyprus.
Also on sale are various ingredients they use for their desserts like meringues, chocolate spreads & nuts.
