As August is here and we’ve already begun our weekend trips to the beachside cities of Cyprus, we are constantly searching for new places to eat and drink. The newest addition to our explorations will have to be a stop at Ayia Napa Marina. Why? Because the multimillion euro project houses some of the most unique restaurant dining experiences under the name of Robuchon.
A quick introduction to those that are not familiar with the name and then Ill talk about the restaurants
Joël Robuchon – the chef with the highest number of Michelin stars. He holds number one spot among the world’s top 10 chefs, making him the world’s best chef according to the Michelin star rating. Though he died with “just” 28 stars, Robuchon was at one point the proud owner of 31. He was also named “Chef of the Century” numerous times.
He specialised in French cuisine and has 12 restaurants in his possession. Joël liked the mentoring of young chefs too. A former student of his was the now infamous Gordon Ramsay.
The Robuchon restaurant group now operates restaurants in the following major cities worldwide, which makes Ayia Napa part of an elite group of cities and a proud addition to our small island.

The Experience.
I had the pleasure to be invited by a dear friend who made on online booking at Robuchon Ayia Napa, and needed a +1 to enjoy the experience, and who else would he invite, other than moi!
We first took a stroll at Le Deli Robuchon which is located on the ground level facing the Marina. The Deli offers a casual yet sophisticated all-day dining space, eat in or takeaway, serving coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks with eat-in or take-away options and a patisserie. Le Deli will also offer a carefully selected range of wines, teas, cheeses, pastries and breads all handmade with quality ingredients.
We didn’t get anything as our reservation was approaching, but the €1.50 croissants looked enticing.
The wide range of freshly made sandwiches and bites all had a price range that you really can’t find in other major cities in Cyprus, and by that I mean cheaper and value for money.
So we made our way upstairs to L’Atelier Robuchon restaurant. The restaurant hostess quickly found our reservation and gave us the best seat in the room, next to the window facing the marina and its various buildings.
We were greeted from the restaurant staff, and was made to feel right at home. The staff is friendly and warm which was pleasant as sometimes fine dining restaurants seem to be more stiff and cold.
We were served a welcoming bite with a glass of wine we chose previously and at that point our mobile phones began working We decided to go for an A la cart menu, after the wine guru of the restaurant gave us a detailed information on all plates and suggestions.
Check the gallery below for all the dishes we tried, from foie gras to mini burgers with foie gras, ceviche and a whole fish that was prepared and cut before our eyes, and served in the most beautiful way. It truly is an experience being served at Robuchon.
Im not going to review the food because world class restaurants of this class don’t need a review if the food was good. What I can review is that if dishes were unique and something I’ve never tasted before. You wont find a similar dish elsewhere. They serve some signature dishes from Joel Robuchon that are over 40 years old and still show stoppers even today. Of course we had the world famous mash potato which was super silky and buttery.
Don’t forget to ask for it.
Even though some dishes seem “Petites” as named in the menu, we definitely started get get full right after the main dish.
Finally the in house pastry chef came over with a cart of tarts to choose from and other desserts from the menu to choose from. We decided to go for a mini selection of all tarts. We also ordered the Le Chooclat Sensation.
We also had the LES PARFUM DES ILES as a pre dessert, (Passion fruit cream, coconut mousse, exotique fruit salad, mojito granité) but we agreed that we should’ve left this for last. Really refreshing after a full meal.
You can see the full menu here – See Menu
All in all a fabulous experience and definitely worth a visiting. Plan a special occasion, birthday, anniversary or just if you’re a lover of fine dining and fine cuisine. Rate the whole experience with a 10/10.
Had the pleasure to meet Executive Chef Mathieu Desbat @mathieudesbat when I went for a visit to the deli 2 weeks later. Seeing the passion he has for food, preparation & quality control, explains why everything is done to perfection.
